To be embodied

Do you spend a lot of time in your head? Planning and thinking through our life, thoughts about the past, the future, why so-and-so said that… and so on?

That was 100% me. Caught in the reel.

But there's another way.

I'm not speaking about the traditional meditation model that encourages you to transcend your mind, still your thoughts.

No.

I am encouraging you to descend. Right into the depths of your body.

Why?

When we live in our heads we become really disconnected from our physical self, our intuition, our emotions and from a big part of what makes us us. It essentially means a disconnect from our feminine energy, what I truly believe are our latent superpowers.

So how do we get back into our bodies?

First let's take a rain-check.

How disembodied are you?

How do you spend most of your day? In your head, or in your body? How does your body feel right now reading this. Are you aware? Can you begin to notice that tension and tightness? What about an aliveness? An undercurrent of emotion? What about your sensory world? What can you smell – really smell? See – really, take it all in, every colour and pattern and light and shadow. Hear – what’s faint and what’s loud? How does it feel to be connected to the ground or furniture or floor that you are rested upon? Are you aware? Were you?

This taking in of sensory information is one way to reconnect with our bodies, in a very simple act of becoming aware of the information we are constantly, unknowingly, receiving.

Another is to pay attention to our sixth sense, our felt sense. That is the sensations that are running like currents in your body. The tingles, tightness, expansion, contraction, the flutters, and heaviness, and sharp pain, the dullness, numbness… all of these currents that lie within, and so much more.

By coming back into our bodies we begin to cultivate greater and greater sensitivity and a growing understanding of our energy, our deep sense of knowing, and our truth.

So I invite you to begin a daily practice to check into your body.

Take a moment each day to pause. Bring your total awareness to you body. What can you take in right in the moment? Take a gentle compassionate scan of your body, what do you feel inside? Pay attention for the simple sake of connecting. No judgement, no need to understand why. Just practising BEing. The embodied way.

This September 2020 I will be offering in person group guided feminine embodiment classes to get into your body, in the most simple and magical of ways. If you live in Toowoomba, QLD then click here for more.
